Siliar is a world filled with wonder.
Shared by humans, elves, dwarves, goblins, kobolds, baines, dragons, ogres, and tains, Siliar is ever changing, ever filled with danger and drama. From the very beginning of Siliar's history, the beings of the world have vied for their own places only to have their peace challenged by the greedy motives of others.
Siliar is a world filled with people.
Facing struggles, some mundane, some historic, the people of Siliar come alive. As they work to overcome the challenges the world presents, their lives touch one another - and often, they touch the reader too. The characters grow, change, celebrate their victories, and deal with their defeats.
Sillar is a world filled with magic.
As Siliar is changed by the beings who live there, so too is it shaped by their use of magic. Many wonders exist, wrought by the skill of the wizards and mages who use their God-given power of magic to create great works.
A vast world with a rich history, Siliar is the stage on which both world changing events and not-so-epic tales are played out.
Goals
The World of Siliar exists as a place in which tales of fantasy can unfold to entertain those who love the genre. But more than simple entertainment, Cameron Walker and Bill Snodgrass, the Authors, have pledged to use the World of Siliar as a means to teach morals to those willing to look beneath the plot for deeper meaning.
Guided by their Christian beliefs, both Walker and Snodgrass have committed to create works that can be safely read by teens and adults alike. Though it is a world with evil, portrayal of such is always done with discretion.
To entertain and enlighten in a safe manner...
That, in short, is the goal of Siliar.
Origins
Siliar began around 1985 as a world in which the Principal Authors and their friends could share role-playing adventures. The culmination of over a decade of refining rules and developing believable social and political models, Siliar quickly became much more.
When the gaming came to an end, Snodgrass and Walker realized that they had far more than a set of maps. They had a history and a workable foundation to a whole world.
Around 1987, while reflecting on Siliar and its strengths as a fictive world, it was suggested that it would be a great stage on which all of the best characters of over ten years of role-playing could meet and interact. The tongue-in-cheek suggestion was only dismissed for a few days before Snodgrass began writing.
In the years that passed, Siliar was refined, polished, and refined again. A work in progress, the passing of the years resulted in even more excitement and wondrous possibilities. Snodgrass and Walker invested countless hours in developing the world and many of the characters that are portrayed in the writings.
In 2003, Snodgrass and Walker looked at the works of their combined efforts and decided it was time to share. A few early reviewers were encouraging, and the process of getting their writings to press began.
