The trek up the road continued to tax everyone to nearly their limits. Edwin’s headache had Nathan worried, and he thought others were concerned, as well. They pushed on, and by the middle of the afternoon, they came to the cave that Lansal had described.
“Well, there it is,” declared Lansal. “I don’t know how we found it but there it is.”
The shelter cave that Lansal had looked for the day before was just up from the path they were making through the deep snow. He had expected to find a trail leading about a quarter mile from the actual road through the pass, but there was no doubt that he was looking at the cave.
“I thought you said the cave was off the main path?” asked Nathan.
“So it is,” replied Lansal. “Or was…in the past.”
